Ruth's Courage and The Gospel
Ruth is a book about two immigrants as well as interracial marriage leading to the redemption of a family and a people. Reflect on your immigrant story and how contemporary and relatable the story of Ruth is to your own.
What two gracious laws did God put in place in Leviticus 25 to ensure families stayed together in the promised land? Which of these two laws did Boaz satisfy.
Whereas Boaz is the formal "kinsman redeemer" in the text, who is the hidden, greater redeemer of the book? Explain how this is so.
Reflect on Ruth 1:16-17 and Ruth's courage and resolve to know the Lord no matter the hardships she knew she would face. How is Jesus Christ the true Boaz and the true Ruth, the ultimate redeemer of our lives?
